Keloid Treatment

Description
Hypertrophic scars and keloids may result from an overly brisk healing response following injury. Hypertrophic scars may appear as firm and thickened tissue at the site of a scar. Keloids may be identified by their tendency to grow beyond the borders of the original scar.

Candidates for Keloid Treatment
You may be a candidate for treatment if you find unsatisfactory the appearance of any hypertrophic scar or keloid located on the face, scalp or neck.

Procedures - Non Invasive
Various noninvasive and minimally invasive treatments may be employed to improve the appearance of hypertrophic scars and keloids. Contact our office to arrange for a consultation with Dr. Pearson to discuss options in your case.

Surgery
For more substantial hypertrophic scars or keloids or for those cases resistant to less invasive therapies, surgery may be considered. Typically, surgery alone may remove the hypertrophic scar or keloid but will not prevent recurrence. A customized extended treatment plan will be developed as needed in your particular case.
