Liquid Facelift Overview

Description
A so-called Liquid Facelift describes a noninvasive procedure using injectable treatments to rejuvenate the face and neck without surgery. The injectable treatments employed include various types of wrinkle relaxers  and wrinkle fillers that act to improve both 'active' and 'passive' wrinkles.

Wrinkle relaxers such as BOTOX® or Dysport® may be employed to improve the muscle contraction responsible for 'active' wrinkles, brow heaviness, and the appearance of tired eyes as well as other indications associated with facial aging. Facial volumizers such as Juvederm®, Radiesse®, Restylane® and Sculptra® are employed to improve 'passive' wrinkles or creases that form in the facial skin due to a combination of that volume loss and repetitive actions of the facial muscles. The characteristics of each filler are employed separately and in combination to provide the most effective result. The specific components of a given treatment plan are tailored to the preferences and concerns of each patient based on your consultation with Dr. Pearson.

The Aging Process
Over time, the action of certain facial muscles may contribute to the appearance of wrinkles, heaviness of the brow, appearance of fatigue, boredom or even anger. When those muscles are weakened, the unfavorable effects of those muscles are diminished. Additionally, volume is lost and redistributed from certain facial areas including around the mouth, cheeks, and lips. Wrinkles or creases may form in the facial skin due to a combination of that volume loss and repetitive actions of the facial muscles.

Candidates for Liquid Facelift
You may be a candidate for the Liquid Facelift if you are dissatisfied with facial wrinkles or with the loss of facial volume or facial wrinkles associated with facial muscle action, brow heaviness, or the appearance of tiredness or fatigue or emotions that are inconsistent with your intent.

Complementary Procedures
Facial resurfacing procedures may also be considered to improve skin surface irregularities.

Recovery after Liquid Facelift
Temporary redness resolves within minutes. Normal activities are resumed immediately. Instructions are given to avoid certain activities for the first day after treatment.
